ARRIS++ Enhanced Menus Package: Introduction

ARRISplus Support:

Expert InfoCAD Corporation (EICAD) has created a new add-on module titled ARRISplus which provides a number of important enhancements to ARRIS including:

This suite of tools has been seamlessly integrated into the ARRIS++ Enhanced Menus package to facilitate their use in a way that is convenient and natural to the normal work-flow. Each of these tools is discussed more fully in the appropriate section of this manual which can be accessed directly by selecting one of the links above.

While ARRIS++ and ARRISplus have each been designed to work independently should the other module be unavailable, the ARRIS user will realize maximum benefits when both packages are installed, allowing the full interaction between them to be utilized.

The following sections discuss aspects of the ARRISplus application not covered elsewhere.

ARRISplus Application Menu:

ARRISplus Button Clicking on the ARRIS PLUS button located on the CUSTOMIZATION pull-down menu, displays the ARRISplus consolidated application overwrite menu.

ARRISplus Overwrite Menu While, this menu provides access to all of the ARRISplus utilities, its use is generally unnecessary since all of these tools have been fully integrated into ARRIS++ in locations that promote their use during the natural work-flow. For example:

The complete On-Line Documentation is available from the revised QUERY pull-down menu. Individual chapters may also be accessed from the various ARRISplus tools menus.

The Interactive Spelling Checker has been incorporated into the TEXT menus.

The Keynote Specification tools may be accessed from the NOTES button on the MAIN menus if the proper selection has been made from the ARRIS++ OPTIONS menu.

The Complex Entity Repair Layer tools have been fully integrated into the general ARRIS editing menus and may also be accessed from the TEXT, PATTERNS and ZONES pop-up tools menus.

The RI Library Editor is located on the REPEATED ITEMS menus.

The Pattern and Zone Geometry Editors are found on the PATTERNS and ZONES menus respectively.

Special Features:

The menu was redesigned to provide a more consistent appearance and operation to match the remainder of the ARRIS menu system.
Menu labels were added to clearly identify and group functions.
Context-sensitive (<F2>) help is available for all menu buttons.
All menu buttons offer full right-click customization capability.
New menu ikons were created and are shipped with ARRIS++, allowing these images to be placed on the toolbar.
A new button was added to display the SPECIFICATION MANAGER pop-up menu.
Use of the archaic flyout menu was eliminated. All spelling options are now available by clicking on the TOOLS or SETUP buttons to display the pop-up SPELL CHECK CONFIG menu.

Original Overwrite Menu

As a failsafe feature, the original ARRISplus application overwrite menu may be displayed by right-clicking on the ARRIS PLUS button on the CUSTOMIZATION pull-down menu. This allows "emergency" access to new features added to the menu in the event that a new version of ARRISplus is installed without the corresponding update to ARRIS++.

Documentation Button
Doc. Button Each of the ARRISplus pop-up utility menus have the new documentation button located in the upper-left corner. Selecting this button will launch the Adobe Acrobat reader to display the manual chapter that relates to the current function.

In addition, the entire set of application documentation may be displayed by selecting the ARRISplus button from the QUERY pull-down menu or by selecting the BOOKS ON-LINE button from the ARRISplus application menu (seen above).

Keynote Specifications:

KEYNOTE SPEC Button
KEYNOTE Button Selecting this button from the ARRISplus application menu displays the KEYNOTE SPEC overwrite menu. However, this menu is typically reached by selecting the NOTE button from the MAIN menus, assuming that an appropriate selection has been made from the ARRIS++ OPTIONS menu.

SPEC MGR Button Selecting this button from the ARRISplus application menu displays the SPECIFICATION MANAGER pop-up menu. Typically, this menu is reached by selecting the MGR button from the KEYNOTE SPEC overwrite menu.

If the ARRISplus module is installed on the system and currently loaded, then these menus are available and offer the following features.

Special Features:

The KEYNOTE SPEC overwrite menu and the SPECIFICATION MANAGER pop-up menu have been completely redesigned to be more consistent in appearance and function with the remainder of the ARRIS menu system. The menu functions were reorganized to make the operation of the tools more intuitive and predictable.
The overwrite menu's title was modified to support general left and right-click functions described under the Menu Titles section.
Support for right-click commands was added to all menu buttons.
Comprehensive <F2> context-sensitive help for all functions was added.
The KEYNOTE and PROJECT REPORT functions were separated into two distinct sections and additional project report buttons were added to match the functionality of keynote reports.
A new button to display the SPECIFICATION MANAGER pop-up menu has been provided.
A new KEYNOTE SPEC flyout menu was created.
The keynote status menu was completely reorganized to match the layout of the similar text note status menu. This makes locating a particular function much more predictable and easy.
Right-clicking on the SLANT button automatically resets the value back to zero.
Right-clicking on the LN SPACING button automatically resets the value back to 1.5.
Right-clicking on the LN EXTN button automatically resets the value back to zero.

Repair Layer Menu:

LAYER REPAIR Pop-up Menu The REPAIR LAYER tools have been fully integrated into the ARRIS++ menus system. Refer to the DIAGNOSE & REPAIR function on the EDIT and EDIT SHORT pull-down menus as well as the pop-up tools menus for TEXT, PATTERNS and ZONES.
If the REPAIR LAYER button is selected from the ARRISplus application menu, the consolidated REPAIR LAYER pop-up menu is displayed.

Special Features:

The menu has been reimplemented to offer a cleaner appearance.
The Repair Layer PDF documentation is displayed by selecting the standard documentation ikon in the upper-left corner.
The menu may be repositioned on the screen by right-clicking on the [X] ikon in the upper-right corner.
Context-sensitive on-line help has been added.
All menu buttons now offer full right-click customization capability.
